Guard Your Heart
Proverbs 4:20-27

Today we will dive into the seventh lesson of Solomon given to his son to help him learn about the importance of wisdom for all of life. Last week, in lesson six, we heard about how important it is for us to stay on the path of wisdom and to avoid at all costs stepping foot on the path of the wicked. Though there are many opportunities that look inviting and exciting, if they are not God’s “path,” then they will get ugly the longer we stay on them.

Stay On The Path
Proverbs 4:10-19

This morning we move into a new section of our study of Proverbs. Last week we studied the lesson of wisdom passed from generation to generation. This week we are going to learn about the importance of staying the course of wisdom and the consequences of straying from wisdom’s well-worn path. Let’s take a look at our Scripture found in Proverbs 4:10-19.

Wisdom: Pass It On!
Proverbs 4:1-9

As we turn our attention back to the book of Proverbs we move into the father’s fifth lesson for his son. This lesson is unique from the standpoint that it is really a lesson that Solomon’s dad, King David, had shared with him when he was young. Now Solomon is passing it on to his son. As we get into our Scripture for this morning we will see that Solomon is urging his son to pursue and acquire wisdom at all costs.

What Kind of Wisdom Do We Have?
Jeremiah 2:5-13

As we celebrate the 4th of July I want to ask you “what kind of wisdom do we have?” Over the course of the history of our country we’ve gained incredible knowledge. We’ve gathered tons of information and made a mountain of discoveries about everything under the Sun. We’ve put a man on the moon, been to Mars and now Jupiter by way of unmanned spacecrafts, and we’ve begun to learn more about sub-atomic particles. The information we’ve gained is staggering and yet I have to ask “what kind of wisdom do we have today and where has it gotten us?”
