Throughout our study of Proverbs we have examined the best practical advice for living life that the world has ever known. The broad range of Solomon’s advice to his son is just as relevant, just as applicable today as it was in the day in which these lessons were originally taught. If you and I will devote ourselves to the study and living out of these biblical principles then we will avoid so much heartache and trouble in life.

The Advantage of Godly Wisdom
Proverbs 8:12-21

The world is full of talented people. It doesn’t matter what field of study or profession you explore you will find lots of talented people. There are lots of talented musicians who have the ability to touch our hearts and stir our souls. There are so many talented people in the field of marketing. They know how to pull at our heartstrings and make us want their product. In the field of medicine we have doctors who are performing procedures and making discoveries that just a few years ago seemed out of reach. You can look at the athletes of the last Olympics, people like Justin Gatlin who won the 100 meter sprint in 9.85 seconds, Jeremy Warner who won the 400 meter sprint in 44.00, or Michael Phelps, who at 19 years of age won 6 gold and 2 bronze medals, and we see talent that causes us to stop and marvel at their abilities. As I said before the world is full of talented people who have worked hard to sharpen their skills and excel in their chosen field.

The Invitation Comes Again and Again
Proverbs 8:1-11

This past week Annie and I went to learn how to pitch a softball. We went to a place called Sports Plus because a friend told me that the coach is outstanding. She played softball for Oklahoma State so she must be good, right! Annie and I met Jane and Shae Boyd at 50th and Counsel for the lesson and I don’t know what Shae was expecting, but I do know what Annie thought was going to happen—she thought that we would arrive and spend an hour pitching. No, no, no. That’s not the way it works.

It was a Saturday night and she was getting ready. She had made her phone calls, made her plans, made up her mind about the clothes she would wear, the look she wanted, and the things she wanted to do. Now she was ready to head out to the mall where it all would all happen.
