What A Friend We Have In Jesus!
John 15:13-16

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

Friends are such an important part of life. Can you imagine? The man of your dreams pops the big question and asks you to be the queen of his castle. Emotion sweeps over you as you envision the years ahead building a family, building hopes, and building memories. You come to the point in your engagement when it’s time to make arrangements for your big day. Flowers are ordered, the minister is contacted, and a dress is fitted for your crowning moment. When you sit down with your fiancee to make out the guest lists — your mind goes blank. You strain, you think, you come up empty. Not one friend can be found. Can you imagine?

Solomon’s Wisdom On “Desiring Discipline”
Proverbs 12

Sunday, October 24th, 2004

When we are born there is nothing that we know outside of wanting our own way. We know how to cry when we don’t get what we want or when we are unhappy, but other than this we know nothing. We don’t possess information about history, mathematics, science, or any other subject. Nor do we know any of the most basic necessities for living life. We can’t feed ourselves. We can’t dress ourselves. We don’t know how to change our diapers or clean ourselves when we are dirty. We don’t know how to speak.

All things considered we must come to the conclusion that the time is now. There is no tomorrow. There is no time for an “I’ll-get-around-to-it-later” mentality. Our kids must learn these lessons, it is paramount to their survival, and we must teach them, model the lessons before them, and then reinforce the lessons over and over again.

Solomon’s Wisdom on “The Power of Words”
Proverbs

Sunday, October 10th, 2004

It has been said that the “pen is mightier than the sword.” In a day in which we see and hear about the horrors of war on a daily basis it may be difficult to believe that little saying, but if you will stop and really consider the thought then you will be able to understand the widespread devastation and loss that has been brought about because of this deadly weapon of mass destruction.

Come To The Celebration
Proverbs 9:1-18

Sunday, October 3rd, 2004

For the past 21 weeks we have traveled through the first eight chapters of Proverbs. Line-by-line and verse-by-verse we have listened in as Solomon shared with his son the most important lessons in life. I believe that the education that Solomon sought to instill in his son is beyond compare because his primary concern was to teach his son how to “make a life” rather than simply “make a living.” Let me explain to you what I am talking about.
