Welcome to BCC!

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

Hi Everyone,

It was such a wonderful morning of worship!  Our children led us in worship as they shared their VBS musical/drama with all of us. I want to thank our Children’s Minister, Kristin Wilsey, and her incredible crew of volunteers for blessing our kids during the week. You are absolutely the best. I also want to thank our kids. You blew us all away with your beautiful smiles and awesome voices!  God has a wonderful plan for each of these kids and it is so exciting to be able to watch it begin to unfold isn’t it!

At the end of our service we welcomed some new folks to BCC. I want to encourage you to welcome  Len Cason and his sons, Roger and Paul.  I also want to ask you to share your excitement with Tucker and Treyce Freeman and Kayle Arechiga. You know each of these kids as they’ve been around BCC a long time. Tucker and Treyce are the children of Samantha Freeman; Kayle Arechiga is the daughter of our Youth Pastor, Ray and Sylvia Arechiga. Each of these kids came forward to accept Jesus in their hearts and follow Him in baptism. Actually, Tucker and Treyce had already accepted Jesus into their hearts, but they want to be baptized. We are going to meet with these kids this week and plan their soon coming baptism.

I never cease to be amazed at God’s hand at work among us. He continues to draw people from all walks of life to BCC. I pray that we will continue to let the light of our glorious Savior continue to shine brightly at BCC. Pray for our leadership as we plan for the Fall. We have some exciting new Bible studies that we will be offering and some new ministry opportunities to get involved with as well. Have a great week.

In His Steps,

Mike

Vacation Bible School at BCC

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Today, 65 children arrived at BCC for a fun-filled week of VBS activities!  What a great group of children we have this year!  The children are placed in teams and each team rotates through arts & crafts, Bible-study, music and games.  What a blessing it is to be able to serve each child a hot meal before they head home!

What an incredible team we have this year!  It is a tremendous blessing to watch 70 volunteers in action!  Praise God for all of the amazing men and women who are serving this year to make VBS a huge success!  Thank you all so very much!

Please keep this week of Vacation Bible School in your prayers!

Sennacherib’s Coming: What Will You Do?
2 Kings 19:14-19

Sunday, July 23rd, 2006

This week we are going to make another stop on our “Journey Through The Holy Land.” Last week we went down to the Jordan River and learned about the meaning and purpose of Christian baptism in the lives of those who follow Jesus. This week we are going to wade in the waters of Hezekiah’s Tunnel and hopefully learn some great lessons about how to be prepared when the “Sennacherib’s” of life come knocking at our door. Many of you are probably not familiar with the name, Sennacherib, but hopefully you will begin to identify the Sennacherib’s of your life after we get into our study.

I will never forget the experience as along as I live. I had spent the summer preparing for my freshman year of college. John Doerner and I had worked out twice a day, most every day, getting in shape for the fall football season. At the end of my senior year in high school, when John had called to ask if I needed a work-out partner for the summer, I had thought that it would be a great opportunity to get in the best shape of my life for August two-a-days. God had bigger plans. Football is far behind me now, but that one summer radically changed the course of my life.

It’s Almost Finished!

Praise the Lord for a new playground!  The new playground system has been installed and the playground is almost ready for use!  There were several amazing men and women who put in many hours of hard work in order to assemble the unit.  We had at least 15 various people helping out throughout our 2-day installation.  Thank you to all of those who took the time to help out!

The Fellowship Committee put on a wonderful Kickoff Lunch and Prayer Dedication for the Playground yesterday.  We had a great turnout.  Thank you to all of you who brought a dish for everyone to enjoy.

I know the kids are anxiously waiting for the opening of the playground!  It should be ready for use within the next week!

Praise God that we have been given such a wonderful gift!

Come Out and Play

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

Hi Everyone,

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this coming weekend!  Over the past few months the Lord has been at work at BCC in such a powerful way. I will spare you all the details, but suffice it to say that the Lord, working through His people, has provided for our kids one of the most awesome playgrounds that you could ever imagine.  This coming Saturday, July 8th, a group of people are coming together to assemble and install our new playground so that all of us together will be able to dedicate it to the glory of God on Sunday morning.

I’m putting a couple of pictures of the playground (blank space) on the blog so that you can compare “what was” to “what is!” Isn’t God good!  I can honestly say that one of greatest blessings of being around BCC through the past 16 years is watching God work in ways so that only He gets the glory. It is so much fun to watch it happen. Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about. I asked our Board last month if they knew that we were raising money for a new playground? None of them knew that a new playground was on the “wish list.” I told them that we didn’t need to raise the money because God had already provided it!  Everyone was so excited because they all knew how badly we needed a new playground, but because we needed an indestructible playground it was financially not possible at this time. What is impossible with people is well within the reach of the Lord!

I hope you will all join us on Sunday, July 9, immediately following our second worship service. We will have hot dogs, hamburgers, dessert, and drinks for everyone as we dedicate our new playground to the glory of God. We’ll see you Sunday.

The Unlikely Follower
Luke 5:1-11

This morning we are continuing our journey through the Holy Land. I want to invite you to join me as we travel to the Sea of Galilee. That’s the name that is most familiar to you and me, but if you were living in Israel then you would know this “sea” by other names as well. The Sea of Galilee is found in both the Old and New Testaments, but it’s known by various names. In Numbers 34, we find that when the Hebrew slaves were making their way into the Promised Land God spelled out the boundaries of the land He was giving to them. In Numbers 34:1-12 we read about the eastern and southern boundaries.
