Study Sunday

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

This coming Sunday is our Biblical Blockbuster Study Time.  We will learn how the movie “Million Dollar Baby” relates to Christ-likeness (1 John 3:10).  Becoming like Christ is a lot like training for boxing.  It’s a constant process that strips the person until all they hear is the voice of God’s Spirit directing him or her.  So come join us as we communicate the life-changing truth of God.

The Unholy Trinity
Revelation 13:1-10

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

Throughout history there has been constant conflict between the city of God and the city of man. Paul tells us in Romans 13 that God has placed those who serve in government in their position. Take a look at Romans 13:1 with me.

Prayer Update

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

Prayer is such an important part of our ministry at BCC and we like to keep you updated on the prayer needs of those in our congregation. Those who are going through difficult times truly appreciate you taking the time to lift their name before the throne of our Sovereign and gracious God. With that said please continue to pray for Leon Pyle who is at home now, but beginning to go through speech therapy following his heart attack. Also, please continue to pray for Sue Hayes who is back at work, but still feeling very weak. Last of all, please pray for our expectant mothers: Tiffany Magness; Sara Joyce, and Bobbi Gump, and Christina Torres. There is a long list of those in need of our constant prayers that can be found in our worship bulletin each week. Please take the list home with you and pray for those in need.

The Longing of the Heart
Revelation 12:1-17

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

In every age, in every era, in every culture and nation there has been, and remains today a deep-seated hope that evil will be defeated. A hope that a hero will rise up who will slay the dragon and free the villagers living paralyzed in fear. This hope is so strong that many have not been able to keep it to themselves; they’ve had to express their hope in some creative way. This hope is the stuff of books and movies that captures our hearts and gives us hope. Do you remember the Disney movie “The Lion King?”

Revelation 11:15-19

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

This morning we are returning to our study of the book of Revelation. We’ve taken the summer off from our study so that we could tour the Holy Land. Because of our time away from Revelation I want to refresh our minds about the background of this powerful book. Revelation is what is called “apocalyptic” material. Apocalyptic literature is by nature very symbolic. You will read the word “like” on most every page as John compares what he is seeing, something beyond description, to something that he can use as a point of reference. Let me give you an example. In the very first chapter of Revelation John sees someone who looks “like a son of man.”  John goes on to describe what he saw with these words.
