When we began our study of Paul’s letter to the church in Rome I told you that this letter has been used by God to transform countless lives and spark revivals across the globe. One of the revivals, or maybe I should say, “reformations,” that came about because of the letter to the Romans is the transformation of Martin Luther which led to what we know today as The Protestant Reformation. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Martin Luther, let me tell you his story.

We Have An Obligation To Fulfill
Romans 1:8-15
Sunday, September 23rd, 2007
Paul had the heart of a missionary. He had a love for people that he did not know, he had a desire to go to places where he had never visited, and all of this was rooted in a deep sense of obligation that he felt towards all people. When we think of the word, “obligation,” we think about “owing” someone something. If someone helps you move into your new house and a couple of years later they let you know that they are moving, then you feel a sense of duty to help them out because they helped you out. If you get into a financial bind and someone bails you out, then you feel a sense of obligation to pay them back…or at least you should. This is what we think of when we hear the word, “obligation.” This is not how Paul used the word.
The Good News of God

Sunday, September 16th, 2007
This week, in our study of Paul’s letter to the church in Rome, we are going to take a look at Romans 1:1-7. These seven verses, in large part, summarize the entire message that Paul wanted to communicate to the brothers and sisters in Rome. It is the “gospel of God,” the good news of God.
BCC Mission Sunday
Wednesday, September 12th, 2007Last Sunday morning the High School crew spent their morning serving the men and women at the Indian Mission in downtown Oklahoma City. It was our first “Mission Sunday” of the new school semester and everyone was so blessed to have the opportunity to serve. Several of us had never been a part of Mission Sunday and we were blown away by how God used our group.
We will continue to have “Mission Sunday” on the second Sunday of each month and we want to get all of our High School group involved. If you’ve never been a part of our group don’t sweat it–neither had some of us before last Sunday. Bring a friend and join us this Sunday at 5 pm at the youth room at BCC.
Paul’s Letter To The Church in Rome
Sunday, September 9th, 2007Today we are beginning a study of Paul’s letter to the church in Rome. There are 66 books in the Bible and yet I would say that more revivals of the soul can be traced to the book of Romans than to any other single book in God’s Word. Throughout history people like St. Augustine, Martin Luther, John Wesley, John Calvin, and John Bunyan have been transformed by the powerful message of Paul’s letter. It was scripture from the book of Romans, “The Roman Road of Salvation,” that was shared with me, and pierced my heart, while I was still a teenager and sitting in the rain at a FCA retreat in Ardmore, OK. The letter to the Romans has been used by God to change hearts and educate God’s people about the predicament of sin, the sufficiency of grace, the righteousness of God, and so much more.
