Hi Everyone,
It has been a great semester for our Middle School and High School Youth Groups! We’ve played together, prayed together, laughed together, studied God’s Word together, and watched God work in some amazing ways! We’ve talked about the judgement of God while sitting in Judge Roger Stuart’s courtroom. We’ve talked about purity and holiness while riding in the nastiest church van on the planet on the way to the car wash. Who could forget Soulja Boy and his “posse” trying to drown us out!! ha! We’ve watched future Nascar stars like Amanda Curtis and Anthony “A-Train” Warner lead us around the track at Pole Position. I could go on and on, but let me just say that it has been an AWESOME semester for all of us, but especially me. It has been many years since I had the opportunity to serve as Youth Pastor, more than 17 years to be exact. I had almost forgotten how much fun it was. Thanks for welcoming me, accepting me, and helping Mike Curtis, Kenny Long, Brandon Geister, and me during this past semester.
Christmas Party
This past Saturday night we had our final activity of 2007 and it was so much fun. We were supposed to travel to different houses for our Progressive Dinner, but because of the ice we “progressed” to the church and stayed put. I want to give a standing “O” to all of the parents who cooked all of our scrumptious food!! You make Rachel Ray blush with envy!
I had so much fun watching you guys play the Christmas Trivia games! Congratulations to Terran Alford, Mason Agnello, Jordan Mitchell, Kaely Jackson, and Amber Warner for winning the competition! I hope you will enjoy your all expenses paid trip to Disney World! (Just kidding!)
The funniest moment of the night was watching you in our “Santa Relay!” I had no idea how many cotton balls could stick to a face with Vaseline smeared all over it. I didn’t get hardly any pictures of the competition because I was laughing so hard I couldn’t hold the camera still. It was hilarious!!
The highlight of the night for me was watching “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and reading the Christmas story from Matthew 1 together. I hope that you will never forget that “Immanuel” means, “God is with us!” No matter what you go through in life–He will be with you. He has promised to never leave you, He will never forsake you. That is the gift I wanted to give you this Christmas. I promise you that if you will take that message to heart it will be a gift that will outlast any other gift you get this Christmas.
I’m looking forward to the New Year. I want to encourage you to invite your friends to join us on Sunday evenings at 5 pm beginning in January. Merry Christmas!
In His Steps,
Mike
