[Mentoring] is a challenging, rewarding task. [Mentors] equip people with knowledge, support them in efforts to learn new skills, and invest time in developing relationships of trust with their [mentees].

I have been a part of ministries and other organizations who spend hours upon hours with youth trying to “help” them better themselves. I believe all of these ministries and organizations are well-intentioned. However, I see a recurring mistake being made.
YOU CANNOT THROW MONEY AT THE PROBLEMS our kids are facing.
Oh sure, many of the kids we serve may come from impoverished homes and communities. They may have started off in this world with a very unfair disadvantage and money can help with some of the problems they face, but again,
MONEY IS NOT THE SOLUTION.
This is exactly why the BCC Learning Center has an E3 mission.
As a ministry, we want to EMPOWER students to do for themselves. We also want to use our money, relationships, and influence to limit or eliminate unnecessary and discriminatory barriers set in place which cause our students to fail or perpetuate their struggles. We also want to EDUCATE students about opportunities that will help them get ahead in life. We want to teach them about want it takes to be active and contributing members of society. We want them to know that they have a responsibility to increase socially as well as economically and to use what they gain to help others in need. Most importantly, we want to teach them about the never-ending love of God through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ – that’s ETERNITYJesus came to this earth with a purpose of supplying a spiritual deficient humanity with a life of true abundance (John 10:10)!

I cannot thank the mentors of the BCC Learning Center enough for understanding this and for their commitment to a truly life-changing investment in our kids!
