There are many things about my “job” that I love, but none of them outweighs the joy I feel and the memories that are stirred within me than to share in someone accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of their life. I love meeting with them, walking them through the Scriptures so they understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus, and then sharing in their baptism.
I had the blessing of meeting with Heavenly and Lloyd Washington a couple of weeks ago. They had been talking to their mom and dad, Quentin and Valerie, for some time. We read together from Romans 6 where Paul talks about being “buried with Christ and raised to newness of life.” We went up into the baptistery, with no water in it, and talked about dying to self and living for Jesus. Then, on Sunday morning, both of these kids were baptized as followers of Jesus and you cheered like your favorite team had just won the championship!!
What a blessing for these kids and their parents to have a church family to pray for them, share in the study of God’s Word together with them, and nurture them in every important way as they grow in their walk with the Lord. I can’t thank you enough for being such a powerful influence in the lives of God’s people!
In His Steps,
Welcome to the Family!
