Advent is a time of preparation, a time of expectation, and a time to focus on God’s Wondrous Gift, Jesus, our Savior! This Sunday, December 7, we will begin a 4 study series on the themes of Advent that will end at our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.
Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. We hear those words tossed around quite often in our day, but the truth is that people have always had a yearning for these four powerful realities. Hope. Is there any greater need for humanity? Peace. The troubles and trials of life can rob us of peace of mind, differences and friction in our relationships can rob us of peace with family members and friends, and we wonder if we’ll ever experience the quiet serenity of peace? Joy. One of the most misunderstood words in God’s Word is “joy.” We want happiness, but God desires for us to experience the joy that only He can bring. Love. If we fail to understand the love that God has for each of us, then we will never experience love in our relationships with one another.
Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. The cry of the human heart. The yearning of men and women all across the world. In our pursuit of hope, peace, joy, and love we settle for cheap imitations when we fail to recognize that all of these and more have been made available to us in God’s Gift of Christmas, Jesus, our Savior. I hope you will join us this Sunday, and every Sunday, as well as Christmas Eve night as we seek to learn more about God’s gift to you and me.
